• STN Volunteer News 11: March 2025

    ·

My name is Colin Eastwood, my real job is managing Yorkshire Coast Sight Support (YCSS), something I have done for 9 years.

YCSS has supported STN for many years; the STN studio and dispatch office is on our top floor. Luckily for the listener, I don’t do any reading in my West Yorkshire accent, a hybrid of Leeds and Bradford accent, as I’m originally from Yeadon, halfway between Leeds and Bradford and famous for its airport. I sit in the background of Talking News, doing the occasional funding bid, a bit of pointing in the right direction, I hope, and building partnerships.

My long-suffering wife (not my description), Karen, works on our Mysight front desk team.

I did spend some of my spare time dog walking but we recently lost our last dog, one of 6 at one time. We’re attempting a dog break but we’ll see how it goes! We are renovating the house; it was an 8-year project but here we are 20 years in and still doing it.

I have ridden motorbikes since I was 16 and still do, but only in the summer.

I have done lots of jobs from an apprentice engineer, maintenance engineer, energy manager and project manager, with a few others thrown in on the way.

    In a nutshell, that’s me!

    Colin Eastwood
    Trustee Committee Member
