My name is Valerie Bolton and I have lived in the Scarborough area for 22 years. Moving from Harwood Dale to Scalby in 2017 brought me into contact with various friends and groups so in 2018 I made a few inquiries about Talking News. It was received with a great deal of pleasure and I joined the happy band of readers in 2019.

It was not long before the persuading and arm twisting began for me to take on the position of an editor. All this happened before COVID so I found myself on my own or with just one reader. I usually set myself plenty of time to sort out the readings, which on occasions is not easy, because the news is very ‘thin’. As it can be difficult to please all the listeners all the time I, like other editors, add extra readings.

I enjoy my Wednesday mornings so this year I began to dispatch on a Thursday so being part of the continuation process. I shall be very sad when I cannot climb those stairs any longer!!
